As most of you noticed, I did a poor job keeping up-to-date on my blogs last year. I have set a goal for the new 2013-2014 school year to post more often to keep you informed about what is happening in the art department at Holy Family School!
Before I begin with the new year, I want to take the time to share some of the amazing events that took place last year in the 7th grade art classroom. Through our collaboration with the Hyde Park Art Center our 7th grade class was able to experiment with art in ways they never had before!
1. Hyde Park Art Center Collaboration - Last year Meaghan Burritt taught the entire year with myself and brought to our then 7th grade class a whole new experience on creating art. Throughout the year the 7th grade class completed three very large projects. 1) Wearable Art - inspired by Chicago's Nick Cave's
Sound Suits. 2) Self Portrait Weavings - we took two different self portrait photos of ourselves and wove them together, creating an abstract image of ourselves. 3) Stop-motion animation - using simple drawings and the techniques of stop-motion animation, we transformed drawings on paper, into short digital movies.
A LARGE thanks is due to Brooke Hummer-Mower for funding the partnership with HPAC!! Not only did she spear head this collaboration, she visited our classroom on a regular basis. With her amazing photography skills, we have MANY photos to share of the year! Please enjoy :-)
